What is Reflectivity?

Reflectivity measures how successfully a surface reflects light. Reflectivity is an important value for roof coatings because sunlight can be so damaging to the surface of a roof. Not only can the sun’s UV rays undermine the roofing materials, but the heat in sunlight can also be absorbed into your building, thus artificially raising the temperature and costing you money. Reflecting heat and light from the roof’s surface is thus one of the most important functions of any roof coating, and should always be taken into account when choosing a product.
